The 2019 Gray wolf Press Africa Prize is open for submissions from both authors and translators:
The award was launched in 2017 by Minneapolis, USA-based publisher Gray wolf Press, and it's looking to recognize “a first novel manuscript by an African author primarily residing in Africa.” The prize provides a $12,000 advance, publication in the US and Italy, and a marketing push.
According to Gray wolf, they're looking for "work that is distinctive, artistically singular, and of a high literary quality."

For this prize, we are seeking novels that are engaged with the current moment—stories that could only be told in our time. We look forward to encountering authors who approach contemporary issues with innovative prose and fresh perspectives. With this prize we hope to amplify the voice of a new author, whose novel will be published alongside exemplary African writers on the Gray wolf list.
Submissions must be full-length, previously unpublished novel manuscripts, either originally written in English or a complete English translation. Applicants can have published a book previously, "so long as none of those books is a novel."
Those interested in submitting can upload a complete manuscript as a PDF or Word document to the Gray wolf Submittable. The deadline for entries is May 31, 2019.
